The Effects Model/The Hypodermic Model

The Hypodermic mode is an audience theory which assumes that audience is passive and will change their minds by being injected media. Evidence of the theory can be shown in "The Interview".
The Frankfurt school came up with this theory by investigating through propaganda used during the world war 1.
This poster represents "anti jews" and portrays Jews as violent and devilish.

This theory is still relevant today because people blame video games for violence undertaken by criminals.  Also advertising tries to inject ideas about the product - eg. Red Bull sponsors extreme sport to make people believe that they can aspire to be like that.

Also an experiment called "The Bobo Doll experiment".
This is a very controversial piece of research that apparently proved that children copy violent behaviour.

Music Video: Planning 1

We have all agreed to use the song "Iron" by Woodkid and have planned about how we are going to apply .....'s theory.
We have looked up the lyrics and planned what kind of ideas might be suitable for the MV.

My idea:

"Of the blood on my lips, again" - By focusing on the word "blood" instead of using fake blood" to apply .....'s theory as this would look tacky and odd, it might look better to use a red/brown filter just for the 2 seconds.

"This deadly burst of snow is burning my hands" - The word "snow" has clicked in me and I thought go the idea of using Hamley's "Magic Snow" because it is easy to use, not messy and also reusable and was thinking to flake that over the characters hand and film it on a point-of-view shot so its looking down its hand. I want to use this idea because it seems impossible to use "snow" as a prop. But with this idea, we would need to provide a lot of snow as it would look odd if there were snow on the characters hand but not on the ground in any other scenes.

"Where innocence is burned" - Can use the masquerade mask here to hide their "identity".

Ben's idea:

Lewis's idea:

"The thunder of the drums" - use of the drums come in here.

"Burned in flames" - use of forest fire torch.

By talking through our plan, the temporary plan we have so far came up with is:

Names:
- Maximus Olivirsson
- Stefan Stefansson
- Kolbjorn Knudsen
-

To come up with "icelandic" names, Ben and I went on a website called http://www.nordicnames.de/wiki/List_of_approved_Icelandic_male_names and matched up the names together. Also we were informed that in Iceland their surname refers to their parents first name so if its a son it and your fathers first name was "Ian" it would be "Iansson" and if it's a daughter, it will be "Iandottier". We can interrupted this into our name making also.
